This week at the soup kitchen was pretty good. I am feeling very comfortable there, since I know my way around. The menu was pasta with chili. This is usually a big hit, at least I hope it is, because they have it so often. The one lady that makes me nervous, not because she’s going to hurt me or anything, but because I am intimidated by her, was there again. I helped serve, and I felt good because I got to help the volunteers who hadn’t been there as many times. Everyone was well served, it wasn’t packed, maybe 35 people, so things went smoothly. About halfway through the time the soup kitchen is open, a man came in from the church saying he had a donation of apples and potatoes. He certainly brought plenty to last everyone a while, Dot said to Jan, “Looks like he brought the whole orchard,” and she was right. I bagged up some of the apples and potatoes to go on the giveaway table. No one took them right away, but they looked good, so people probably took some home. Ray... (more)
